My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
కుమారా, నేను బోధించే ఉపదేశాన్ని మనసులో ఉంచుకో. నేను బోధించే ఆజ్ఞలు హృదయపూర్వకంగా ఆచరించు.
For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
అవి నీకు మనశ్శాంతితో కూడిన ఆయుష్షును, సుఖంగా జీవించే కాలాన్ని కలగజేస్తాయి.
Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
అన్ని వేళలా దయ, సత్య ప్రవర్తన కలిగి ఉండు. వాటిని మెడలో హారాలుగా ధరించుకో. నీ హృదయమనే పలక మీద వాటిని రాసుకో.
So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
అప్పుడు దేవుని కృప, మనుషుల కృప పొంది నీతిమంతుడవని అనిపించుకుంటావు.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
నీ స్వంత తెలివితేటలపై ఆధారపడకుండా మనస్ఫూర్తిగా యెహోవాను నమ్ముకో.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
ఆయన అధికారానికి నిన్ను నీవు అప్పగించుకో. అప్పుడు ఆయన నీ మార్గాలన్నీ సరళం చేస్తాడు.
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
నేను జ్ఞానం గలవాణ్ణి అనుకోవద్దు. యెహోవా పట్ల భయభక్తులు కలిగి ఉండి చెడుతనానికి దూరంగా ఉండు.
It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
అప్పుడు నీ శరీరానికి ఆరోగ్యం, నీ ఎముకలకు సత్తువ కలుగుతాయి.
Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
యెహోవాకు నీ రాబడి మొత్తంలో ప్రథమ ఫలం, నీ ఆస్తిలో వాటా ఇచ్చి ఆయనను ఘనపరచు.
So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
అలా చేస్తే నీ వాకిట్లో ధాన్యం సమృద్ధిగా ఉంటుంది. నీ గానుగల్లో కొత్త ద్రాక్షారసం పొంగి పారుతుంది.
My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
కుమారా, యెహోవా బోధను తిరస్కరించకు. ఆయన గద్దించినప్పుడు విసుగు తెచ్చుకోకు.
For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
ఒక తండ్రి తన ప్రియమైన కొడుకును ఎలా గద్దిస్తాడో అలాగే యెహోవా తాను ప్రేమించే వాళ్ళను గద్దిస్తాడు.
Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
జ్ఞానం సంపాదించుకుని, వివేకం కలిగి ఉన్న మనిషి ధన్యుడు.
For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
వెండి వలన పొందే లాభం కన్నా జ్ఞానం సంపాదించుకోవడం మంచిది. మేలిమి బంగారం సంపాదించుకోవడం కన్నా జ్ఞానం వలన లాభం పొందడం ఉత్తమం.
She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
రత్నాల కంటే జ్ఞానం శ్రేష్ఠమైనది. అది నీకు ఇష్టమైన అన్ని వస్తువుల కంటే విలువైనది.
Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.
జ్ఞానం కుడి చేతిలో సుదీర్ఘమైన ఆయుష్షు, ఎడమ చేతిలో సంపదలు, పేరు ప్రఖ్యాతులు ఉన్నాయి.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
అది నడిపించే దారులు రమ్యమైనవి. దాని విధానాలు క్షేమం కలిగించేవి.
She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.
దాన్ని అనుసరించే వాళ్ళకు అది జీవఫలాలిచ్చే వృక్షం. దాన్ని అలవరచుకునే వాళ్ళు ధన్యజీవులు.
The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.
తన జ్ఞానంతో యెహోవా భూమిని సృష్టించాడు. వివేకంతో ఆయన ఆకాశ మండలాలను స్థిరపరచాడు.
By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.
ఆయన తెలివివల్ల జలరాసులు అగాథం నుండి ప్రవహిస్తున్నాయి. ఆకాశంలోని మేఘాలు మంచు బిందువులు కురిపిస్తున్నాయి.
My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
కుమారా, లోతైన జ్ఞానాన్ని, వివేకాన్ని పదిలం చేసుకో. వాటిని నీ మనసులో నుండి తొలగి పోనివ్వకు.
So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
జ్ఞానం, వివేకాలు నీకు ప్రాణప్రదంగా, నీ మెడలో అలంకారాలుగా ఉంటాయి.
Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.
అప్పుడు నువ్వు నడిచే మార్గాల్లో భద్రంగా ఉంటావు. నీ నడక ఎప్పుడూ తొట్రుపడదు.
When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
పండుకొనే సమయంలో నీకు భయం వెయ్యదు. నీవు పండుకుని హాయిగా నిద్రపోతావు.
Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.
అకస్మాత్తుగా భయం వేస్తే కలవరపడకు. దుర్మార్గులు నాశనం అవుతున్నప్పుడు అది చూసి నువ్వు భయపడవద్దు.
For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.
యెహోవాయే నీకు అండగా ఉంటాడు. నీ కాలు ఊబిలో చిక్కుకోకుండా ఆయన నిన్ను కాపాడతాడు.
Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.
అవసరంలో ఉన్నవారికి సహాయం చేయడానికి నీకు అవకాశం ఉన్నప్పుడు దాన్ని చేయడానికి వెనకడుగు వెయ్యవద్దు.
Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.
నీ పొరుగువాడు కోరినది నీ దగ్గర ఉంటే “రేపు ఇస్తాను పోయి రా” అనవద్దు.
Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.
నీ పొరుగువాడు నీ దగ్గర భయం ఏమీ లేకుండా జీవిస్తున్నప్పుడు అతనికి కీడు తలపెట్టవద్దు.
Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.
నీకేమీ కీడు తలపెట్టని వాడితో కారణం లేకుండా పోట్లాడవద్దు.
Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.
దౌర్జన్యం చేసేవాణ్ణి చూసి అసూయ పడవద్దు. వాడు చేసే పనులు నువ్వు చెయ్యాలని ఏమాత్రం కోరుకోవద్దు.
For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.
కుటిల బుద్ధి గలవాణ్ణి యెహోవా అసహ్యించుకుంటాడు. నీతిమంతులకు ఆయన తోడుగా ఉంటాడు.
The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.
దుర్మార్గుల ఇళ్ళ మీదికి యెహోవా శాపాలు పంపిస్తాడు. నీతిమంతులు నివసించే స్థలాలను ఆయన దీవిస్తాడు.
Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.
ఎగతాళి చేసేవాళ్ళను ఆయన ఎగతాళి చేస్తాడు. దీనమనస్సు గలవారిని ఆయన కనికరిస్తాడు.
The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
జ్ఞానం గలవారు పేరుప్రతిష్టలు సంపాదించుకుంటారు. జ్ఞానం లేనివాళ్ళు అవమానాలకు గురౌతారు.
